Sunrise Bakery, Birmingham’s own Caribbean bakery that’s been delivering a little “taste of
home” since 1966, is proud—nay, excited—to announce our brand-new line of vegan cakes.
OneLove! You can still expect Caribbean flavours and the same commitment to quality that
Sunrise Bakery is known for. We know you’ll fall in love with our new addition to the Sunrise
Bakery product line.
Why is Sunrise Going Vegan?

For decades, our family-run business has been committed to delivering traditional Caribbean
breads and buns that remind our community members of home. We want to make these
scrummy Caribbean flavours accessible to a whole new generation of customers whose dietary
preferences have changed for ethical or health-related reasons.
OneLove cakes are 100% vegan and 100% delicious (if our increasing waistlines are any proof).
Each recipe has been developed and fine-tuned over months to get each flavour juuuust right.
You won’t even notice our cakes are vegan!

What’s Vegan Cake?

When a food item is labeled “vegan”, it means that the product is made with only plant-based
ingredients. You won’t find butter, eggs, milk, honey, gelatin or any other animal by-product in
our cakes.
Our facility’s master baker ensures that each vegan cake batch is baked to perfection and
completely separate from our non-vegan bread and bun products.
So, without further ado, let us introduce you to your future favourite tea-time goodies:

Jamaican Banana Cake

There’s banana cake, and then there’s Jamaican Banana Cake. Everyone has their all-time
favourite home-baked banana cake recipe, which is why ours is as close to home-style as it
gets. Loaded with overripe bananas (’cos you know, overripe is what gives this cake its true
flavour), this vegan cake will instantly remind you of the good-ol’-days in your grandma’s
kitchen, reaching out for a second, or third, piece of her freshly baked banana goodness.
Although the combination of banana and sweetness is what really hits the spot, your tastebuds
will detect that yummy combination of warm spices that makes this recipe truly mouthwatering.

Spicy Ginger Cake

If this cake had a sound, it would be zing! Is there anything more delicious than the combination
of ginger and warm spices? Whether you’re looking for something to warm you up or you’re in
need of a cake-shaped hug, our Spicy Ginger Cake will delight all your senses the moment you
take your first bite. We’re not sure how the cake gods have done it, but this vegan cake has
pulled off the impressive combination of light and fluffy with rich and warm. Spicy ginger cake
and tea are a match made in heaven, wouldn’t you say?

Caribbean Fruit Cake

The only thing that’s better than fruit in your cake is more fruit in your cake. This
Caribbean-inspired vegan cake ticks all the boxes as far as we’re concerned. The intense
flavours of this cake are so rich, you can have it for tea and dessert. Packed with sun-dried
raisins and cherries and generously spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and fennel, you might find it
nearly impossible to eat just one slice, which is perfectly fine with us! While the Mixed Fruit Cake
was created to be the ultimate tea-time snack, the taste is just special enough to enjoy on
celebratory occasions.

Tropical Pineapple & Coconut Cake

As far as Caribbean flavours go, this vegan cake is a no-brainer. The combination of pineapple
and coconut is enjoyed by people all over the world, and why? Because it’s Just. So. Good.
What else needs to be said about this fruity, creamy, sun-soaked flavour other than if you aren’t
already drooling just thinking about it, you will be once you try OneLove Pineapple and Coconut
Cake. Warning: the consumption of this cake can lead to involuntary musical outbursts of “If you
like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain…”
